AIMS

Our Aims

As an environmental-based organisation, our primary aim is to provide environmental education through guided walks, talks, and hands-on conservation sessions. However, a more comprehensive list of our aims are detailed below.

  1. Environmental Education through guided walks and talks. We believe that if anyone wishes to protect nature, they must first understand it. Therefore, our Society’s primary aim is to educate in an inclusive, cost-free way.
  2. To inspire people of all ages, specifically young people, and backgrounds to understand, protect, and conserve nature. Whether conservation be through gardening for native wildlife, every action helps.
  3. To observe and record wildlife in a respectful, legal, and professional manner. All records will be submitted to Sussex Biodiversity Recording Centre to better local records and understanding.
  4. To be a point of contact for all wildlife-related queries and concerns. We have a strong understanding of ecological best practices and legislation, and we wish to share that to better protect the environment.

While those are our primary aims, we do wish to go even further. The Balcombe Ecological Society wishes to:

  1. Work with Balcombe Parish Council, Mid Sussex District Council, and West Sussex County Council to adopt road verges for ecological management.
  2. Represent the Society and it’s members views.

Balcombe Ecological Society is pleased to have been founded and run by volunteers. If you wish to support our causes, please consider becoming a member.
