Governance
The Balcombe Ecological Society is governed by the Management Committee. Members that make up the Management Committee are all volunteers. The Management Committee is formed by people from all walks of life to ensure everyone deserves a proper chance to develop their experience and feel included within our society.
The Management Committee combines a wealth of experience, knowledge, and ambition. They are responsible for running the society, both strategically and operationally. The Management Committee is formed of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Officers.
Chairman: Ethan McLaughlan
Ethan founded the Balcombe Ecological Society, alongside Lauren Murray, in 2024. He has served as the Chairman ever since.
As well as studying A-Level Environmental Sciences, Geology, and Politics, Ethan is a Seasonal Ecologist for RammSanderson Ecology. He has extensive experience in ecological surveying and bat data analysis. Ethan is currently working towards his level 1 great crested newt licence.
As well as Chairman, Ethan is the primary host for our events.
Treasurer: Kayley McLaughlan
Kayley is the Treasurer for our society. She is responsible for managing our money in our (soon-to-be) Community Bank Account and acts as the primary Signature on said account.
Kayley has an interest in all-things wildlife, with an emphasis on butterflies and flowers.
